IPL 2022 Mega-Auction: 5 Overseas All-rounders likely to attract highest bids from the 10 Franchises

The 15th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start from March 27, however, before the season kicks off a mega-auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.

All IPL teams will be looking forward to buy quality players in the IPL mega-auction. Also, they would aim to buy some top all-rounders who are vital in the shortest format of cricket. Let’s take a look at the top five all-rounders in T20 cricket currently who will likely attract the highest bids from team owners in the auction.

Mitchell Marsh is an Australian all-rounder who is a valuable player in the T20 format of the game. The 30-year-old all-rounder has played 137 T20 games in his career till now. He has accumulated 3241 runs at an average of 34.11 as shown in the below chart. In his T20 career, Marsh has struck 20 half-centuries and one century. Also, with his medium-pace bowling, Marsh bagged 66 wickets in his T20 career. In IPL, Marsh has dismissed 20 batters in 21 games.

In the recently concluded BBL 2021-22, Mitchell Marsh scored 347 runs from 8 matches at an average of 57.83 while maintaining a whopping strike rate of 142.79. Mitchell Marsh was also declared player of the final in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 for his 77 not out from 50 balls against New Zealand.

England’s hard-hitting all-rounder Liam Livingstone is a popular player in T20 leagues across the globe. In 163 T20 matches in his career, Livingstone has amassed 4071 runs with a remarkable strike rate of 144.46 as shown in the below chart. The right-handed batter has slammed 23 fifties and two centuries in his T20 career. Also, with his spin bowling, he has taken 67 wickets in 163 T20 games.

He has played only nine games in IPL till now. Liam Livingstone represented Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021. Many franchises will keep an eye on him in the upcoming auction ahead of IPL 2022.

Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham is an experienced campaigner in T20 cricket. The 31-year-old player has played 182 T20 matches in his career. The left-handed batter has racked up 2376 runs in T20 cricket at a strike rate of 136.94 as shown in the below chart.

Interestingly, Neesham bowls right-arm medium-pace being a left-handed batter. While bowling, Neesham snared 158 wickets in T20 cricket. Neesham played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 season. He can be an attractive option for any IPL side which is looking for a bowling all-rounder.

Caribbean all-rounder Jason Holder has been one of the important players for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the previous few seasons. He has won several matches for Hyderabad with his medium-pace bowling. The 30-year-old all-rounder has bagged 35 wickets in just 26 IPL games in his career. Also, he has grabbed 153 scalps in T20 cricket. Holder took 15 wickets from 8 matches at an average of 15.43 for Sunriseres Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021.

In the recently concluded England and West Indies T20I series, Jason Holder adjudged as player of the series for his 15 wickets from 5 matches at an average of 9.6.

In the lower order, he can provide quick runs for his side with his explosive batting. Also, he is a very fine fielder in the outfield. So, due to his enormous skill-set, many teams would bid aggressively for Holder in the upcoming IPL auction.

Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques is a seasoned T20 all-rounder. He has played 244 T20 matches in his long T20 career. The 35-year-old veteran has amassed 4597 runs with a strike rate of 128.15 in his T20 career. Also, he has hammered 21 half-centuries in T20 cricket. He has got 116 wickets to his name with his medium pace bowling in 244 T20 games. Henriques has also played in several seasons of IPL. He has scored 1000 runs in 62 IPL games with a strike rate of 126.9. He has bagged 42 wickets in his IPL career. In the recently concluded Big Bash League season, Henriques led Sydney Sixers into the final of the tournament and he was also seventh-highest run-getter in the tournament with 440 runs. Many franchises will aim to buy Henriques in the mega-auction as he can bat in top order too unlike above all-rounders. He can give flexibility to any T20 batting line-up.
