Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma becomes the first Indian player to hit 400 T20 sixes.
Mumbai Indians continue to stay in the hunt for a playoff place as in every edition after they beat Rajasthan Royals convincingly on Tuesday. Here’s a look at the records smashed in the 50th and 51st games of IPL 2021.
51st IPL Match: Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians
1 – Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals with 70 balls remaining which is the biggest win in IPL 2021 in terms of balls remaining. Before this, KKR held this record by defeating RCB with 60 balls remaining at Abu Dhabi.
1 – By defeating Rajasthan Royals in ten overs, Mumbai Indians became the first team in IPL to chase a target within ten overs twice. They had earlier defeated KKR within ten overs while chasing a target of 68 runs at Mumbai in 2008.
1 – After losing with more than ten overs remaining against Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals have now become the first team to lose an IPL match twice with more than 10 overs remaining in the chase. First instance of RR of losing a game with ten overs remaining in IPL was against Kochi Tuskers Kerala at Indore in 2011.
1 – Rajasthan Royals could muster only 90 runs in 20 overs in the game against Mumbai Indians, which is the lowest total for any team in IPL 2021.
2 – This is the second-lowest total in IPL when a team batted complete 20 overs. The record is still held by KKR who could score only 84 for 8 against RCB at Abu Dhabi in 2020 while playing the full 20 overs.
1 – RR recorded the lowest ever total in IPL at Sharjah Cricket Stadium – 90/9. The previous lowest was 112/9 by KKR against RCB in 2020.
1 – Rohit Sharma becomes the first Indian player to smash 400 sixes in T20 cricket. Among Indian players, Suresh Raina is closest to this milestone, as he struck 325 sixes till now in T20 cricket.
7 – Rohit Sharma became the seventh player in the world to complete 400 sixes in T20 cricket. Caribbean batter Chris Gayle holds the record of hitting the maximum sixes in T20 cricket – 1042.
1000 – Wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan completed 1000 runs while playing for Mumbai Indians.
1 – Ishan Kishan is the youngest player of Mumbai Indians to reach 1000 runs for the franchise.
32 – Mustfizur Rahman batted at number 11 most number of times (32) in T20 cricket. The previous record-holder was Shaun Tait, who batted 31 times at number 11 in T20 cricket.
14/4 – Nathan Coulter-Nile registered his best figures in IPL. His previous best was 20/4 against Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) in 2015.
2 – Ishan Kishan has now clubbed 34 sixes in IPL in UAE, which is second-most for any batter after Sanju Samson who clobbered 38 sixes in UAE in IPL.
50th IPL Match: Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings at Dubai
100 – By winning this match against CSK by three wickets, Delhi Capitals have won their 100th match in T20 cricket, which include 96 wins in IPL and 4 wins in Champions League T20 (CL T20).
2 – CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored only 18 runs off 27 deliveries in this game against Delhi Capitals. This was only the second instance of Dhoni batting 25 balls or more and going boundary-less in the IPL. His first boundary-less knock while playing 25 or more balls in IPL was against RCB in 2009 when Dhoni scored 28 runs off 30 balls at Johannesburg.
4 – By beating CSK in this game by three wickets, Delhi Capitals have now defeated Chennai Super Kings in four consecutive matches in IPL.
3 – Shikhar Dhawan reached 500 runs in this season of IPL. He became only the third player to achieve this milestone after Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul.
5 – Shikhar Dhawan has scored 500 runs in an IPL season five times till now. Only David Warner piled up 500 runs more times (6 times) than Dhawan in a season of IPL.
37 – Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan became the 37th player to play 300 or more T20 matches.
6 – Dhawan is the sixth Indian player to play 300 T20 games. MS Dhoni was the first Indian to play 300 T20 games. He reached this daunting milestone in 2019 against New Zealand at Hamilton.
1 – Shardul Thakur registered his best figures in IPL while playing for CSK -13/2.
