2 – Spearhead of the English bowling unit James Anderson became only the second Test player in history to bag 400 wickets at home. Sri Lanka’s iconic spinner Muttiah Muralitharan was the first player to scalp 400 wickets at home in Test cricket.

5 – Anderson became the fifth-highest wicket-taker in international cricket across formats by bagging 917 wickets. He surpassed the record of Pakistan former seamer Wasim Akram who dismissed 916 batsmen in his international career.
Only Muttiah Muralitharan (1347), Shane Warne (1001), Anil Kumble (956), Glenn McGrath (949) have picked up more wickets than Anderson in international cricket.
1 – James Anderson has now bowled the most number of maiden overs (329) against India in Test cricket. He surpassed the previous record-holder Derek Underwood who bowled 322 maiden overs against India in Test cricket.
2 – James Anderson has won the second most number of Test matches (54) at home as a player. He overtook the record of Jacques Kallis who won 53 Test matches as a player at home. Only former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting won more Test matches (67) as a player in Test cricket than Anderson now.
27 – Joe Root-led English team defeated India in the Headingly Test match by an innings and 76 runs on Saturday. By winning this Test match, Joe Root became the most successful English captain with 27 Test wins. He surpassed the previous record-holder Michael Vaughan, who won 26 Test matches as captain.

2 – English team won 17 home Tests under Joe Root, which is second-most for any English skipper. Only Andrew Strauss-led English team won more Tests (19) at home.
6 – Joe Root is the most successful English captain against India in Test cricket by defeating them six times under his captaincy. He overtook Alastair Cook, under whom the England team won five Test matches against India.
1 – This is now the first away Test series where Rohit Sharma faced 400+ balls. He copped 583 deliveries till now in this Test series. He surpassed his previous record of facing 387 balls in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15.
6 – Joe Root (121) outscored India in the first innings (78) of this Test match. Till now, Joe Root outscored the opponent’s all-out total six times in his Test career, the most number of times for any English player. WG Grace, Jack Hobbs, Frank Woolley, Geoff Boycott, Alastair Cook all achieved this feat three times each in their Test career.
2 – This is the second instance of India losing a Test match by an innings at Leeds. India suffered an innings defeat first time at Leeds in 1959, a loss by an innings and 173 runs.
2 – This is the second defeat by an innings for the Indian team under Virat Kohli. India’s first innings defeat under Kohli came against the same team, by an innings and 159 runs at Lord’s in 2018.
2 – This was only the second occasion where India lost a Test match after winning the toss under Virat Kohli. The first such defeat came in the infamous Test match at Adelaide in 2020 against Australia, where India got all-out for a paltry 36 runs.
9 – India have now played nine Test matches in England under Virat Kohli. India also played nine Test matches in England under MS Dhoni earlier.
6 – Virat Kohli has now scored six Test fifties in England and has levelled the record of Ajinkya Rahane and Sourav Ganguly, who also scored six fifties each on English soil. Virat Kohli is behind only Rahul Dravid (8), MS Dhoni (8), Sachin Tendulkar (7) in the number of Test fifties in England among India players.
