SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) retained their core group before they went into the auction. They have managed to buy a few match-winners in Ishan Kishan and Mohammed Shami. Overall, the team look extremely strong in both batting and bowling department, and are easily one of the favourites to lift the title. Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, SRH would look to cross the final hurdle this time.

Here’s a look at the complete squad analysis of SRH for IPL 2025.

Sunrisers Hyderabad squad composition IPL 2025

Ishan Kishan, Aniket Verma, Sachin Baby, Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kamindu Mendis, Brydon Carse, Atharva Taide and Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, Simarjeet Singh, Harshal Patel

Batters & Wicket-keepers

SRH have one of the best batting line-ups amongst all the franchises. They have done well to retain their star performers of the last season in Travis Head. Head along with Abhishek Sharma gave the team a flying start consistently last season. Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan are the two keeper-batters in the squad. They are two of the most destructive batters in T20 cricket. Either of them can play only as a batter in the XI, making SRH one of the best batting line-ups in IPL 2025.

All-rounders

SRH have two of the best all-rounders in T20 cricket currently in the squad. Abhishek Sharma is more of a batting all-rounder, but is also a useful left-arm spinner. Nitish Kumar Reddy is another promising all-rounder who is already making waves in the Australia series Down Under. Nitish is known for his big-hitting and adds firepower to the middle-order. His medium-pace bowling is more than handy. SRH have a few more all-rounders in Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis, England’s Brydon Carse and few local players in Atharva Taide and Abhinav Manohar. Overall, SRH are spoilt for choices in this department.

List of all-rounders: Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kamindu Mendis, Brydon Carse, Atharva Taide and Abhinav Manohar

Bowlers

Pat Cummins will be leading the pace department and have got a few good supporting bowlers in Shami, Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. The India pace unit of SRH has IPL veterans who come with loads of T20 experience. If Shami is back in full rhythm, he can be extremely lethal and can run through the opposition’s batting line-up. The spin department also looks steady with Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar sharing the responsibilities. Overall, SRH have a bowling unit to envy.

List of bowlers: Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, Simarjeet Singh, Harshal Patel

Sunrisers Hyderabad probable Playing XI for IPL 2025

Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhinav Manohar/Aniket Verma, Brydon Carse/Kamindu Mendis, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami

Conclusion

Just like in the previous IPL season, SRH are top heavy with some big-hitters in Head and Abhishek followed by Kishan and Klaasen. But if the top-order misfires, it puts a lot of pressure on the middle-lower order to bail the team out like it happened in the previous season. This time too, SRH have a shaky No 6 and No 7 who might struggle to get going if the top-order fails. A lot will depend on how the new entrants, such as Mendis and Carse, along with Indian players like Abhinav and Aniket, capitalise on their opportunities in these two positions.

The bowling department has match-winners, with Shami and Chahar adding more strength to the squad. Cummins has done a good job as a bowler and a captain last season. A lot will rest on him this time around as well.
