The battle for the top of the IPL 2023 table gets heated with No.1 placed Chennai Super Kings taking on the hosts Rajasthan Royals who are at the 3rd at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals put up a formidable fight against Chennai Super Kings
Rajasthan Royals won the match against Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur. Rajasthan won the toss and batted first. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the openers of Rajasthan, took advantage of the batting-friendly pitch and scored 64 runs in the power play. Jaiswal was the star performer in this phase as he scored 40 runs off 22 balls. Ravindra Jadeja broke the partnership when he dismissed Buttler for 27 runs. Jaiswal continued to play positively but lost his wicket in the 11th over, which brought CSK back into the game.
Chennai Super Kings did not have a great start to their innings as their opener Devon Conway failed to get going and managed only 8 runs off 16 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad played well but lost his wicket to Adam Zampa after scoring 47 runs off 29 balls. Despite some efforts by Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube, Chennai fell short of the target by 45 runs. Dube scored 50 off 29 balls, but it was not enough to take his team to victory. Rajasthan’s bowlers kept things tight and helped their team secure a comfortable win.

Talking Points from RR vs CSK
Major talking point has to be the rare batting failure for the CSK. Throughout this season, CSK have been blessed with having a long batting order and some of the attacking batsmen going around. But this game painted a different story as it may have exposed their dependence on openers or even the top-3 for a quick start.
It didn’t happen at Jaipur as Conway endured a tough time scoring only 8 off 16 and this made sure CSK didn’t quite get the momentum in powerplays. They made their lowest first 6 overs score of 42 runs here.

Let us scan the key performances of the RR vs CSK game of IPL 2023
Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to impress in this IPL
The young batter from Mumbai has been a run machine in the domestic circuit and now he is following the ongoing edition of IPL for Rajasthan Royals. He along with Jos Buttler has been a rock for the side in the top-order and in this crucial game, Yashasvi Jaiswal once again played a blinder. Off the 86 runs scored for the 1st wicket, the left-hander made 53 of those and laid a solid platform for the batters to follow.
He made 77 runs from 43 balls smashing 4 sixes in the process and this helped RR score the first 200+ total at this venue in IPL.

Shivam Dube once again proves to be a great asset for CSK
It was Jaiswal who lit up Royals innings, and Shivam Dube did the same for CSK in their batting essay. Coming at the stage where CSK lost 3 quick wickets, Dube led a counter-attacking strike and forged a 51-run stand with Ali for the 5th wicket in just 29 balls. He hit 4 maximums in another of his impressive displays this season. He struck his 3rd successive half-century but just wasn’t enough on the day.

Adam Zampa makes an impact for the Royals
The leg-spinner Adam Zampa made the most of the pacers good work in the power plays by first removing the struggling Devon Conway for 8 and then accounted for the free-flowing Ruturaj in his next over. Just when Moeen Ali was looking in ominous tough, the leggie once again chipped in with a wicket and this took the game completely away from the Super Kings.
What’s Next and Points Table
CSK would want to forget about this game and comeback strong when they take on PBKS at their fortress MA Chidambaram stadium on 30th April. RR moves to the top spot with this win while CSK slips down to 3rd. Royals will travel to Mumbai next on the same day as they take on MI.
