Adam Zampa’s 5/19 helps Australia go past South Africa in points table
Australia 78 for 2 (Aaron Finch 40, Shoriful 9/1) beat Bangladesh 73 all-out (Shamim Hossain 19, Zampa 19/5) by eight wickets
Australia faced Bangladesh in the Super 12 round match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Australia went into this encounter from a loss against England by eight wickets due to Jos Buttler’s unbeaten match-winning knock, whereas Bangladesh got defeated by Proteas by six wickets on Tuesday due to their miserable batting display. Bangladesh had already lost four consecutive games in this edition of the T20 World Cup before playing this game.
Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to field first.
Aussie bowlers flattened Bangladesh batting line-up
Liton Das and Mohammad Naim opened the batting for Bangladesh. However, Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc bowled Liton Das on a duck off the first delivery he faced in this innings. Also, his partner Josh Hazlewood bowled one down batter Soumya Sarkar in the next over on 5.
Right-arm off-spinner Glenn Maxwell hunted down next batter Mushfiqur Rahim on just 1 to leave Bangladesh in a precarious situation of 10/3. Naim smashed two boundaries against Pat Cummins but got out on 17 off a delivery of Hazlewood.
Australia skipper Finch brought Adam Zampa into the attack in the ninth over. The move paid off as Zampa picked up the wicket of Shamim Hossain on 19. After that Zampa bagged wickets in a heap to register his first five-wicket haul in T20 World Cup. Due to the magical spell of Zampa, Bangladesh got bundled out on a puny total of 73 in 15 overs.

Australia openers Aaron Finch and David Warner looked in hurry to chase the target as early as possible to boost their net run-rate. Especially, Finch looked in sublime touch. He started his carnage against Mustafizur Rahman with a boundary and six. The openers combined to hit three boundaries and a graceful six to gather 21 runs in the fourth over of the innings bowled by the same bowler.
Finch whacked another two back-to-back sixes but got bowled by Taskin Ahmed in the same over. Shoriful Islam bowled out Warner on 18. One down batter Mitchell Marsh continued playing attacking strokes like the openers to help his side reach the target in just 6.2 overs to defeat Bangladesh by eight wickets.
