Brief Scores: Australia 267 (Harris 76, Anderson 33/4) defeated England 185 (Root 50, Cummins 36/3, Lyon 36/3) & 68 (Root 28, Boland 7/6) by an innings and 14 runs
England were struggling on 31 for four yesterday. Batting pair of Joe Root and Ben Stokes began the innings today. However, Stokes couldn’t face the left-armer Mitchell Starc and got bowled out on the score of 11. Debutant Scott Boland troubled opponent batters massively. Next batter Jonny Bairstow was given out LBW off Boland, however, batter reviewed it.
Snickometer confirmed that no edge was drawn and tracking system showed ball clipping the off-stump resulting in a lost review call for England. Also, Boland sent back Root in the pavilion on the score of 28. Root played away from the body and edged the ball which went straight in the hands of David Warner at slip.
Scott Boland wreaked havoc on visitors
Due to these quick three wickets, England was near an innings defeat. Boland didn’t give breathing time to next batter Mark Wood. Mark Wood was caught and bowled by Boland on duck. With this wicket, Boland completed a five-for in his debut test.
Also, Boland bagged the wicket of Robinson on duck. Robinson poked at a good length delivery and Marnus Labuschagne took the catch at third slip. Also, his partner Cameron Green bowled out lower-order batter James Anderson on the score of 2 and England got bundled out on the meagre total of 68 runs.
